Foothills Model Forest
Foothills Model Forest is one of 11 model forests throughout Canada. The Model Forest Network was established to build ‘partnerships locally, nationally, and internationally to generate new ideas and on-the-ground tools for the practices of sustainable forest management’. Providing expertise in forest planning, GIS and analytical services, The Forestry Corp. has been an active partner in the Foothills Model Forest since 1994.
Spatial Planning Systems
Spatial Planning Systems specializes in providing quantitative solutions to difficult natural resource management planning problems. Their primary focus is the development of spatial explicit operating plans that meet or exceed ecological requirements, address social expectations and maximize financial return.
The flagship product of Spatial Planning Systems is Patchworks, a sustainable forest management optimization model that incorporates real world operational considerations into the strategic planning framework. The flexible interactive approach is unique in several respects:
